Jan Debruyn was born on the 4th of April 1961. In 1979 he obtained the Belgian government medal for alto saxophone with high distinction. In 1989 he obtains at the national contest by Fedekam for soloists first prize with highest distinction. Jan Debruyn did his musical studies for piano, percussion, guitar at the music academies of Halle and Alsemberg. The studies music theory, saxophone and transposition he followed as a free student at the Royal Conservatory at Brussels.
Jan Debruyn composes popmusic as well as music for (small) ensembles.
